Hypersensitive resistance (HR) to Potato virus Y (PVY) in potato (Solanum tuberosum) is conferred by strain-specific N genes. Two such genes have been identified in potato so far, Ny ₜbᵣ conferring HR to PVYᴼ, and Nc ₜbᵣ conferring HR to PVYC.
