Gray leaf spot, caused by the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae B.C. Couch (Couch and Kohn 2002), is an important disease of turfgrass. Infection on tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Shreb.), perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.), and St. Augustine grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum [Walt.] Kuntze) in the southeastern United States by M. oryzae has been reported (Fraser 1996; Landschoot and Hoyland 1992; Malca and Owen 1957)....
