Southern tomato virus (STV), a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) virus of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and member of the genus Amalgavirus, was first reported in the U.S.A. and Mexico (Sabanadzovic et al. 2009). The pathogenicity of STV remains unclear because of mixed infections and asymptomatic seedlings.
