VEXAS (vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X-linked, autoinflammatory, somatic) is a severe adult-onset inflammatory disease caused by somatic mutations that reduce cytoplasmic activity of UBA1, the primary initiating enzyme for ubiquitylation.
