Sugarcane ( Saccharum spp.) is a preeminent sugar and bioenergy crop and has great economic importance in tropical countries. A major disease affecting this crop is yellow leaf disease, which is caused by sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV, Polerovirus SCYLV , Solemoviridae ).
