<title>Abstract</title> <p>Background Sister Mary Joseph’s nodule is a malignant metastatic umbilical nodule. Sister Mary Joseph Dempsey (1856–1939) was the first to notice the association between intra-abdominal or pelvic cancers and metastatic umbilical nodules.
