The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique was utilized to obtain internal transcribed spacer ribosomal DNA (ITS rDNA) and small-subunit (18S) rDNA sequences from UK isolates of Spongospora subterranea f.sp. nasturtii, a plasmodiophorid pathogen of watercress (Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum).
