Abstract excerpt
The most serious foliar disease of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) is crown rust (caused by Puccinia coronata Corda f.sp. lolii Brown). Progress in resistance breeding using recurrent selection has been slow, due to lack of genetic knowledge.
