<h4>Background: </h4> With the increase in bacterial resistance worldwide, the bacterial characteristics of the biliary tract may have changed. Bile specimens for microbiological analysis are obtained primarily during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, with a few from percutaneous transhepatic cholangial drainage.
