A Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method has been developed for detecting Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). Three different sets of oligonucleotide primer were simultaneously used to amplify the enterotoxin genes of heat-labile (LTh) and heat-stable (STIa and STIb) enterotoxins of ETEC.
