OBJECTIVE: To investigate the inheritance of generalized osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS: OA was identified on hand and knee radiographs obtained from members of the Framingham Study cohort (the parents) in 1967-1970 and 1992-1993, and from their adult children in the Framingham Offspring Study in 1993-1994.
