A clinical Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain, PAe391, was found to be resistant to a number of antibiotics including ticarcillin, piperacillin, cefsulodin and amikacin, and a disk diffusion assay showed evidence of pronounced synergy between imipenem and various beta-lactam antibiotics.
