Qy-excitation resonance Raman (RR) spectra are reported for two mutant reactions centers (RCs) from Rhodobacter sphaeroides in which the photoactive bacteriopheophytin (BPhL) is replaced by a bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) molecule, designated by beta L.
