Fecal samples from slaughtered cattle were studied for enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) by DNA hybridization with biotin-labelled DNA probes specific for the EHEC virulence plasmid, Shiga-like toxin I (SLT I), Shiga-like toxin II (SLT II) and eae gene.
