Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is an acquired chronic hemolytic anemia characterized by intravascular hemolysis, often associated with neutropenia and thrombocytopenia. Venous thrombosis, including the Budd-Chiari syndrome, is one of the major complications of PNH, but not all PNH patients develop thrombosis.
