Abstract excerpt
The molecular basis of the uroporphyrinogen III synthase (UROIIIS) deficiency was investigated in two members of a Japanese family. This defect in heme biosynthesis is responsible for a rare autosomal recessive disease: congenital erythropoietic porphyria (CEP) or Gnther's disease.
