Spherocytic elliptocytosis is a phenotypic hybrid between hereditary spherocytosis (HS) and hereditary elliptocytosis (HE) characterized by the presence of spheroovalocytes and spherocytes which exhibit increased osmotic fragility, indicating a deficiency of surface area.
