Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) telomeres were investigated by means of pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and in situ hybridization. In situ hybridization showed that a tandemly repeated satellite sequence has a subtelomeric location, and is present at thirteen of the fourteen chromosome ends.
