We report the characterization of a mutant of Azorhizobium caulinodans, isolated after ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis. This Nod+ Nif- Fix- mutant is unable to synthesize 10 of 15 polypeptides normally induced under conditions of nitrogen fixation.
