Several lines of compelling epidemiologic evidence indicate that susceptibility to psorasis is inherited, albeit not in a simple monogenic fashion. Psoriasis is one of a number of diseases with a presumed autoimmune pathogenesis that display significant human leukocyte antigen (HLA) associations.
