The Chlamydia trachomatis major outer membrane protein gene (omp1) was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from 89 clinical specimens, and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) patterns were analyzed after AluI or AluI and MspI digestion.
