Various chemotypes (Re, Rd2, Rd1P-, Rd1, RcP-, Rc, Rb3, Rb2, Rb1, and Ra) of R-form lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) of Salmonella spp. were crystallized by treatment with 70% ethanol containing 250 mM MgCl2, and crystals of the LPSs were observed electron microscopically and analyzed by electron diffraction and synchrotron X-ray diffraction.
