Trichoplusia ni larvae have been injected with a mixture of wild-type Autographa californica multiple nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) and a mutant derivative, AcRP8.UW1.lacZ, which lacks the polyhedrin gene, and has the p10 gene replaced by the Escherichia coli beta-galactosidase gene.
