Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and its adult variant adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN) are X-linked diseases in which a deficiency of lignoceroyl-CoA ligase, a peroxisomal enzyme needed for the degradation of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFA), has been reported.
