Pyocyanin was capable of interacting with the cells when it was added to the cell suspensions of a Pseudomonas aeruginosa P. culture producing the pigment and a mutant that did produce pyocyanin. As a result, the intensity of chemiluminescence induced by KMnO4 in the cells decreased.
