Simulation models suggest that veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) uniformly results in left ventricular (LV) distension in cardiogenic shock (CS). This study characterized the hemodynamic response to VA ECMO in animal models of CS, and in patients with CS.
