OBJECTIVES: The biosynthesis of 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS), a universal sulfate donor, is catalyzed by two isoenzymes: PAPS synthetase 1 (PAPSS1) and PAPS synthetase 2 (PAPSS2).
