Carlavirus vignae, with the common name cowpea mild mottle virus (CPMMV), has become a widespread carlavirus infecting economically important crops worldwide. CPMMV is transmitted by whiteflies, whereas other members of the Carlavirus genus are generally transmitted by aphids.
