Mollicutes are minute cell wall less bacteria encompassing important pathogens. We show that pathogenic Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. capri (Mmc) can switch expression of capsular polysaccharide (CPS), which creates phenotypic diversity and has dramatic repercussions on immune responses.
