In malignant hematological diseases, clonal genetic alterations, such as chromosomal aberrations and gene mutations, are responsible for the uncontrolled division of abnormal hemopoietic cells. The detection of clonal variants has not only diagnostic, but also prognostic and therapeutic significance.
