Glycogen synthase 2 (GYS2) encodes liver glycogen synthase, a rate limiting enzyme in glycogen metabolism. Our preliminary work suggested that GYS2 was a candidate gene affecting milk production traits by analyzing the liver proteome of dairy cows.
