Accumulation of triacylglycerols (TAGs) is crucial during various stages of plant development. In Arabidopsis, two enzymes share overlapping functions to produce TAGs, namely acyl-CoA:diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 (DGAT1) and phospholipid:diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 (PDAT1).
