BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is characterized by high low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, xanthoma of the Achilles tendon (AT), and premature coronary artery disease (CAD). Ultrasonography can assess AT thickness and softness, making it useful for evaluating AT in FH diagnosis.
