BACKGROUND: JAK2 V617F is the most common somatic mutation associated with the classical Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), which include essential thrombocythemia (ET), polycythemia vera (PV), and primary myelofibrosis (PMF).
