BACKGROUND: Redondovirus (ReDoV) is a recently discovered circular, Rep-encoding single-stranded DNA (CRESS-DNA) virus in humans. Its pathogenesis and clinical associations are still completely unknown. METHODS: The presence of ReDoV DNA was investigated in biological specimens of 543 Italian subjects by in-house developed PCR assays.
