BACKGROUND: Congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMSs) are a heterogeneous group of neuromuscular disorders. Mutations of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor epsilon subunit gene (CHRNE) are the most common causes of these disorders. CMSs are gaining increasing recognition by clinicians.
