OBJECTIVES: Somatic chromosomal rearrangements resulting in ALK fusion oncogenes are observed in 3-7 % of lung adenocarcinomas. ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors (ALKi) induce initially response, however, various resistance mechanisms limit their efficacy.
