The most ubiquitous, abundant, and invasive turtle on Earth, Trachemys scripta elegans (TSE, "red-eared slider"), is one of four taxa in a clade that is native to the USA and adjacent Mexico (three subspecies of Trachemys scripta plus Trachemys gaigeae).
