ABSTRACT The keystone periodontal pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis produces phosphorylated dihydroceramide lipids (sphingolipids) such as phosphoethanolamine dihydroceramide (PE DHC) and phosphoglycerol dihydroceramide (PG DHC) lipids.
