BACKGROUND: Glycogen storage disease type VI (GSD-VI) presents with failure to thrive and also fibrosis in some cases, without cirrhosis. CASE CHARACTERISTICS: 2½-year-old girl presented with short stature, transaminase elevation and significant fibrosis, suggesting GSD-III.
