Acidithiobacillus caldus is a chemolithoautotrophic sulfur-oxidizing bacterium that is widely used for bioleaching processes. Acidithiobacillus spp. are suggested to contain sulfur dioxygenases (SDOs) that facilitate sulfur oxidation.
