Hepatic fibrosis is the net accumulation of matrix tissue components which controlled by pro-fibrolytic enzymes, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and pro-fibrotic cytokine, TGF-β1, and enzymes, tissue inhibitors of MMPs (TIMPs).
