Papillon-Lefèvre syndrome (PLS) is a rare primary immunodeficiency, which combines severe periodontal disease with edentulism and palmoplantar keratosis (PPK). PLS is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait and is due to mutations in the cathepsin C gene.
