Wide hybridization is a one of the important techniques in plant breeding. Oat (Avena sativa L.) and pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) belong to different subfamilies of Poaceae. In generally, such distant relative species show uniparental chromosome elimination after successful fertilization.
