Krabbe's disease, also known as globoid cell leukodystrophy (GLD), is a lysosomal storage disease caused by the deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme β-galactocerebrosidase (GALC), resulting in severe neurological manifestations related to demyelination secondary to elevated galactosylsphingosine (psychosine) with its subsequent cytotoxicity.
