BACKGROUND: Metatropic dysplasia is a skeletal dysplasia characterized by rhizomelia, severe kyphoscoliosis and a coccygeal tail. CASE CHARACTERISTICS: A 12 day-old male neonate had facial dysmorphism, short limbs and coccygeal tail and showed radiological features of metatropic dysplasia.
