The HIV-1 epidemic among men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM) continues to expand in China, involving the co-circulation of several different lineages of HIV-1 strains, including subtype B and CRF01_AE. This expansion has created conditions that facilitate the generation of new recombinant strains.
