A Gram-stain positive, motile, and subterminal endospore-forming rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain Ma-21(T), was isolated from seawater of the Bay of Bengal. Strain Ma-21(T) was found to grow optimally at 37 °C and pH 8.0 with 3% (w/v) NaCl.
