From December 2013 to March 2014, a major wave of highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak occurred in poultry in Yunnan Province, China. We isolated and characterized eight highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1) viruses from poultry. Full genome influenza sequences and analyses have been performed.
