KEY MESSAGE: Sclerotinia resistance was transferred into rapeseed from a wild relative of Brassica oleracea (B. incana) using hexaploids derived from crosses between B. incana and rapeseed as a bridge. A high level of resistance against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum has been documented in wild Brassica oleracea, but not in cultivated rapeseed (Brassica napus).
